Disability, Frailty and Depression in the community-dwelling older adults with Osteosarcopenia

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence osteosarcopenia in over 60-year-old community and evaluate whether is associated with disability, frailty depression. Methods This performed using baseline data Namgaram-2, among 1010 surveyed subjects, 885 subjects who were 60 years or older had all necessary tests selected. Kaigo-Yobo checklist (frailty), World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS) Geriatric Depression Scale-Short Form-Korean (GDSSF-K) used. Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS 2019) applied study. Osteopenia measured from dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) osteopenia diagnosed when T-score less than − 1.0. divided into four groups: normal group, which both sarcopenia undiagnosed, only, only osteopenia. Results Of old evaluated, group comprised 34.0%, 33.7%, 13.1%, 19.2%. WHODAS (17.5, 95% CI: 14.8-20.1), (3.0, 2.6-3.4), GDSSF mean score (4.6, 3.9-5.4) statistically significantly higher compared other groups. Partial eta squared (η p 2 ) (0.199) (0.148) values ​​according Osteosarcopenia large, (0.096) medium Conclusions a relatively common disease adults that may cause deterioration health outcomes. Therefore, evaluating adults, management those groups should occur together.
